Update + Work Looks... Loads of 'Em

Remember how I was saying that I'd take pictures of my work looks and then upload them on Facebook where I'll mention what I've used?

Well, that didn't keep up very long, obviously, but I did take pictures of my work makeup whenever I remember to. But right now, I have no inkling of what I've used. I'd take the pics 2 mins before I run out the door and by the time I get back from work (usually about 2 hours after my official working hours), all I can really think of is dinner and bed. That is if I'm not continuing to work at home, which more often than not, I am.

Still, I hope the pictures are somewhat useful. Perhaps they'd give you some ideas on how to spruce up your work looks instead of the usual neutrals.

Mine does. I'm usually more conservative on Mondays to Wednesdays and I'd start introducing more colors on Thursdays and Fridays.

Odd-Colored Blushes: Laneige + Anna Sui

Two brands. Two fancy packagings. Two unusual color combinations.

Double happiness? Not quite, sadly.


First up, we have the Laneige Fresh Modernist Blusher in 01. In the pan is a combination of 3 colors -- purple, peach and beige. Peculiar color combo indeed. There's a little brush in there, which I don't use.

I love the psychedelic holographic design on the casing. Though, it's kinda bulky for a blush. My thoughts on the color below.

As always, you can count on Anna Sui to come up with beautiful packaging. The white design on the blush is an overspray so it came right off with the first swipe.

03 is a dirty peachy pink paired with an orangey yellow. In theory, it would've produced a warm peachy blush but it in reality, not so much. Thoughts on the color below.

On the left is the Laneige Fresh Modernist Blush. The color's pretty pleasant but nothing special to the point that they needed to have three separate colors to produce just one. The blush is very very sheer so using them alone doesn't produce much color at all. I'd still use it since the color's alright but I'm just not very excited over it.

On the right is the Anna Sui Double Cheek Color in 03. The color turned out to be an unflattering orange. And trust me, I've worn orange blushes before. This one just looked muddy and I can't think of what kind of skin tone that would be able to pull it off. I tried using more of the pink but it was nothing special at all.

Both blushes don't come cheap either. Laneige is RM115 and Anna Sui's RM91. I'm sorry. I wish I could be more enthusiastic but I'm not. Thank goodness for Benefit's Bella Bamba. Did I tell you that I'm in love with it? I really need to review it!

Clearing The Bush -- Brazilian Waxing @ Honeypot Wax Boutique

Since my first Brazilian waxing experience, I was eager to have another go to see if it can get any better. My next stop was Honeypot Wax Boutique and it did get better. A lot better.

The salon occupied a rather small space but it is very quaintly decorated with many beautiful touches such as the chandelier and the Victorian-style chairs. Honeypot Wax Boutique, located in Bangsar Shopping Centre, started in Singapore and this would be their first branch in Malaysia.

The room kept with the pink theme and was also narrow but sufficient, nonetheless. What I didn't like was the fact that the foot of the bed was facing the door. As I was laying on the bed butt-naked, I was imagining the mortification if the door opened and someone were to walk pass and looking in at the same time. And you know very well that humans have a compulsion to look through an open door! Also, I couldn't find a dustbin to throw in my used wet wipes.

What Honeypot lacked in layout, was made up for by the service. I had my upper lip, underarms and southern region done. My therapist, Corine, is, in a nutshell, wonderful.

Unlike my first experience, I felt ten times more comfortable and relaxed. There was close to no awkwardness and Corine was very easy to talk to. Time went by so fast and before I knew it, I was done. The entire process took about 45 minutes.

With 5 years of experience under her belt, Corine sure knew her way around the bush. She knew how to calm me down during the painful parts, which I'm grateful for.

In fact, I liked Corine so much that I was convinced to get a feminine wash that was RM75. A very hefty price tag for a feminine wash and well... I well... hmmm... Anyway, I've been using it and it's not too bad. It's very concentrated so I dilute it with water in a separate bottle. Um... let's just drop this. I can't justify this purchase. I was in the moment.

Here comes the best part about Corine's job well-done: no painful ingrown hairs and unbearable itchiness! Well, some but very very very manageable. That was really my biggest concern from the first experience. This time, I only applied aloe vera gel like once and didn't really do much but the hair grew out alright. As per before, the waxing effect lasts a lot longer than shaving or trimming. It's been a month and the bush hasn't grown back enough for another wax.

I was also very happy with my underarm wax as my pits looked a lot brighter and the hair growing out was a lot finer. However, the growing-out stage was quite treacherous. I had to consciously avoid lifting up my arms or wear sleeveless clothes. And of course, endure The Boy's constant teasing.

Will I go back to Honeypot Wax Boutique? Most definitely!

My Mother Nourishes My Life….With LOVE!

Growing up, my mother was everything to me. She nourished me with wisdom, life lessons and love, to make me the person I am today. Being an only child, I was pampered but I was never spoiled. Though the journey we've been through in our lives was not always smooth, we have always managed to repair our relationship and learn from the past.
